We had a business associate who needed to be in Bennington for a few weeks and finding this cozy and spacious home was a Godsend! The furnishings - down to the smallest detail- make the two-story apartment feel like home - and the extra amenities like telephone & washer-dryer in the unit, made it fantastic. The place was impeccably furnished and immaculately clean. It's also really convenient, especially from Vermont where everything is usually so remote. When our associate wanted a bite or a change of scene, he was able to take a brisk stroll through the charming neighborhood to the nearly 200 year old Powers Market for the New York Times, great coffee and breakfast or lunch, and walk home past the rushing Walloomsac waterfall. Seemlessly blending the old and the new, the townhouse is new where it matters; new beds and bedding, a modern kitchen & baths intermingled with antique furnishings and works from local artists. The townhouse is truly a 'home-away-from-home'.
First Floor:
The fully applianced kitchen is perfect for preparing that home-cooked meal. We love our local restaurants but it's nice to have the option of 'eating in' if the mood strikes.
The kitchen is fully provisioned with pots, pans, plates, cups, utensils, cleaning supplies, etc. There's a selection of basic cooking supplies, ingredients and spices. We ask that you please respect our "use and replace" honor system - if you need it, use it! Please replace it or leave behind your own little donation to the cupboard.
In the dining room, designer lighting brings out the best in the antiques and artwork. The cozy copper top bar overlooks the kitchen - no one's left out of the conversation during meal prep.
The living room has comfortable seating, a TV (with cable) , DVD player and stereo. The ceiling fan keeps the summer breezes moving.
The first floor also features a half bath.
Second Floor:
Bedroom #1, overlooking the patios and back yard, features a queen size bed and roomy his & her closets. A dresser, sitting chair and antique reading lamp round out the furnishings.
Bedroom #2 has a full size bed, walk-in closet, dresser, sitting chair with a beautiful copper and brass antique reading lamp.
Both bedrooms have air conditioning for those occasional steamy summer nights.
The bedrooms are seperated by the spacious full bath. The clawfoot tub is great for a hot soak! The washer & dryer are located in this bathroom.
Miscellaneous:
- Wireless internet access is provided. An excellent signal is available from any of the rooms and also the front porch and rear patio. Stay in touch with the outside world while enjoying our great outdoors.
- A propane gas grill is located on the rear patio. Available for year round use, grilling utensils provided.
- A picnic table and other various outdoor seating options are provided.
- The back yard features terraced gardens and a bonfire patio area.
